WWW Wednesday – 26/07/2023

Happy Wednesday!

However, to start, its that time of the Week again! WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme that was revived by Taking on a World of Words. I like it cause it is fairly simple but allows me to check in with my reading but also with you!

WWW Wednesday asks just three questions:

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

WHAT BOOK HAVE YOU RECENTLY FINISHED?

I found myself in a little bit of a slump this weekend, I just couldn’t get into Only a Monster, even though it was a re-read of a book I enjoyed. So I decided to nip it in the bud as quick as possible and have an Agatha Christie Week. Agatha Christie can always bust a reading slump for me, from the cunning of Ms Marple to the fastidiousness of Poirot , I always find them comforting and entertaining and so easy to read.

One, Two, Buckle my Shoe
Agatha Christie

Poirot #23

About the book:

A dentist lies murdered at his Harley Street practice…The dentist was found with a blackened hole below his right temple. A pistol lay on the floor near his outflung right hand. Later, one of his patients was found dead from a lethal dose of local anaesthetic. A clear case of murder and suicide. But why would a dentist commit a crime in the middle of a busy day of appointments? A shoe buckle holds the key to the mystery. Now – in the words of the rhyme – can Poirot pick up the sticks and lay them straight?

4:50 fro Paddington
Agatha Christie

Ms Marple #8

About the book:

Two trains
Side by side for a brief moment
In that moment, a murder
Elspeth McGillicuddy is positive she witnessed a man strangling a woman to death.
But it was only the merest glimpse through a carriage window as the trains drew parallel.
She is the only witness, there are no suspects, and, most importantly, there is no corpse.
Who, apart from her friend Jane Marple, would take her seriously?
Never underestimate Miss Marple

My Thoughts:

You can find my review of this one HERE

The Seven Dials Mystery
Agatha Christie

Superintendant Battle #2

About the book:

Gerry Wade had proved himself to be a champion sleeper, so the other houseguests decided to play a practical joke on him. Eight alarm clocks were set to go off, one after the other, starting at 6:30 a.m. But when morning arrived, one clock was missing and the prank then backfired, with tragic consequences.
For Jimmy Thesiger in particular, the words “Seven Dials” were to take on a new and chilling significance…

So that is my WWW post for this week. I will see you next Wednesday to update you. What are you reading this week? Have you finished anything lately you loved?
