This week I have decided to chat about five books that are coming out in quarter 1 of 2021 that I can’t wait to get my hands on!
Jan 2021

Across the Green Grass Feilds
Seanan McGuire
Wayward Children #6
Release 13/1/2021
Ok this has technically been released but in typical fashion of Seanan McGuires books in the UK it is already on back order. I have already had one pre-order cancelled by the bookshop way back in November when they couldnt guarentee stock and found another but who knows when I will actually receive it. It’s book six in the wayward children series and I have loved every one of these so far. We visit a new world this time, filled with centaurs and unicorns! I think it might draw from McGuires love of Classic My little Ponies!

The Library of the Dead
T. L. Huchu
Edinburgh Nights #1
Release 4/2/2021
I am so so so lucky to have a physical Arc of this beauty and I am just about to tuck into it. It is probably one of my most anticipated new releases of this year. An Urban fantasy set in Edinburgh. Its a real shame it is a) winter and b) we are subject to a stay at home order as it would have been lovely to walk around Edinburgh while reading this, visiting all the locations in the book (I did this with V.E. Schwabs City of Ghosts it was so much fun). It is blurbed as Edinburgh’s answer to Rivers of London and we all know how much I love that series. Zimbabwean magic and Scottish pragmatism just seem like the best mix!

The Archive of the Forgotten
A. J. Hackwith
Hell’s Library #2
Release (UK): 9/2/2021
This is already out over the pond in North America but us Brits have a few more weeks to wait until we can revisit Hell’s library. The world in these books was just so inventive and I really really enjoyed it. I am really looking forward to see how the story continues and to visit more aspects of the underworld. You can find my review for Book one – The Library of the Unwritten Here

What Abigail did that Summer
Ben Aaronovich
Rivers of London Novella #3, Between Novels 5 and 6 in main storyline
Release 18/3/21
Its no secret that Rivers of London is one of my favourite series (It isn’t even this first time I have mentioned it in this post) and I would honestly read anything from this universe. I love how much content we get from the Novels, Novellas, and Graphic novels. While the Graphic novels fill in space with mini cases that occur in the time within each novel, the Novellas have started to branch out to tell side character stories and I really like it! I can’t wait to learn more about how Abigail’s magical education has progressed and how she developed her contacts in the magical talking foxes of London!

Another Time, Another Place
Jodi Taylor
Chronicles of St Mary’s #12
Release 15/4/2021
Another favourite series that I don’t seem to shut up about and another series that seems to bless me with huge amount of content based in this world. I am currently two books behind (having just finished book 9) so have time to catch up before the release of this book, but there are also all the short stories and the spin off Time Police series (which book 3 comes out in October). This series is just high octane fun from start to finish.
Those are just five books released in 2021 that I am highly anticipating there are so many more I could mention but these five take top priority especially as they form parts of some of my favourite series. I might make a list of Debut I am anticipating as well.
What are some nooks you are anticipating for the first few months of this year?
I would love to chat all things bookish with you! You can comment down below or find me on Twitter or Goodreads!
Happy Reading!
Oh this is a great list Fiona, and I really need to start reading all of these series! I’m also really looking forward to The Library of the Dead, I’m going to start it soon as well!

I’m super excited for Across the Green Grass Fields, too! Can’t wait to get my hands on that one. I’ve got an ARC of Archive of the Forgotten, but I’m glad to know that rather than it being late, if I read it soon, I’ll actually be on time. We’ll just pretend I live in the UK. See? Perfect. 😉 Hope you’re able to read these all!
