I can’t Find who started the Friday Five book blog meme. It seems to crop up in many different style such as “Five for Friday”, “Five on Friday” , “FridayFive Challenge”. I also can’t find a topic list like you would have for the Six on Sunday meme. Therefore I am just doing my own thing and setting my own topics just so I can chat books with you.
This week I am going to be chatting about Five books that were release in 2020 that I still have to make time for. These are five books that I pre-ordered or purchased on there release in 2020 that I just haven’t picked up despite really looking forward to them.

The City We Became
N. K. Jemisin
Standalone
The premise of this book just sounds so wonderful and very much my kind of urban fantasy/sci-fi. I love New York and I have heard nothing but good things about this book, its depiction of New York and its people. I did attempt to start this late summer but was just hitting a slump and just couldn’t give it my attention. After that it just spent its time looking gorgeous on my shelves so I will have to put it on a TBR very soon.

The House in the Cerulean Sea
T J Klune
Standalone
I have heard nothing but glowing positive reviews for this one, also the cover is just gorgeous. I really like the concept of the main character being just a middling office worker. When I started seeing this circling the book community on twitter I knew I juat had to grab a copy. I have seen it described as just a positive and happy book, with everyone raving about it so again this is on the Top of the TBR pile.

The Last Day
Andrew Hunter Murray
Standalone
I have to admit I havent picked this up as I am scared as to weither I will like it or not. I love Andrew Hunter Murray’s comedy and his comic writing but this is a serious Sci-fi. It also came out in February last year just as the world was starting to crumble and a book featuring the apocalypse and the end of days didn’t appeal. I do have to bite the bullet and read it as I am sure I will actually love it.

Raybearer
Jordan Ifueko
Raybearer #1
Another book that has had nothing but rave reviews in my bookish circles and yet another book I have a signed special edition of (Fairyloot) that I have yet to dedicate my time to. I think its because I want to just loose myself in these books that I need to find a time when I don’t have any other deadlines but that is an impossibility and instead I seem to be missing out on some awesome books.

Hollowpox
Jessica Townsend
Nevermoor #3
The only book on this list I have put off reading not because I am intimidated or need some time to just sit with it but that there were technical printing errors with my copy and I am waiting for my reprint to arrive. However if it takes much longer I may have to invest in the audiobook and just grin and bear it through the printing errors so I can actually finish this book.
I have a list a mile long of 2020 releases I just couldn’t find time for and that I could make several other lists but I have to say these are probably my top five and I hope to hold myself to having them appear on my TBRs very soon.
