February TBR

February is almost here and that means its time for me to pull my TBR. I really struggled with this months TBR as I have so many ARCS, blog tours and buddy reads that I am doing. So I don’t have to attempt a book a day in February I am combining as many as possible with my backlist to slim the list down a little.

Roll 1 – Purple – YA

The Red Scrolls of Magic
Cassandra Clare and Wesley Chu

The Eldest Curses #1

Shadowhunters Saturdays buddy read

Ellie and I are going to be joined in our next post by a new member of the Shadowhunter Saturday crew! Erika from And She Reads On will be joining us in our future reads. As we are following Cassandra Clare’s official reading order we are leaving The Infernal devices behind and diving into A new series before we jump back to the Mortal Instruments. We all know how much I love Magnus so I am completely happy to read anything based around him!

Roll 2 – Pink – Fantasy

The Hobbit
J.R.R Tolkien

TWR gang buddy reads
Conquering the Classics

I have read the Hobbit before but it has been a few years and when The Write Reads Gang suggested that we buddy read The whole of the Lord of the Rings I jumped at the chance to get through a couple of the classics on my list while also having friends to encourage me to finish it

Roll 3 – Blue – Sci-fi

A Memory called Empire
Arkady Martine

Teixcalaan #1

I have had this book on my shelves for some time now and I have been meaning to pick it up as I have heard fantastic things. It was on my January TBR but I couldn’t quite fit it is so I have moved it to this months . I have also been very fortunate to be granted access to the eARC of the second book in the series so I have to get to this one before I can add that to my TBR so this month is as good as any.

Roll 4 – Netgalley Blacklist – The Betrayals

The Betrayals

Bridget Collins

eARC

I loved the Bridget Collins’ debut The Binding. It was so weird and wonderful with with that hint of magic I really loved it and I was really hoping that this has the same weird and wonderful yet delicate and purple prose. I started this in November and put it down to finish NaNoWriMo and didn’t pick it back up. I was loving it with all its dark academia vibes and really unusual magic system so hopefully I can pick it up where I left off and finish it.

Roll 5 – Orange – Mystery

Mysterious Affair at Styles
Agatha Christie

Hercule Poirot #1

Agatha Christie Project

Spoiler Alert I am restarting my Agatha Christie Project to read in a more conscience order and keep my reviews up to date on my Agatha Christie Page. So starting this month I am going back to book 1 in the Poirot series and reading them from there.

Roll 6 – Orange – Mystery

The Murder on the Links
Agatha Christie

Hercule Poirot #2

Agatha Christie Project, TWR gang readalong

Another Mystery Roll and as I can devour these books in an evening I had to pick another Christie. A) it sets my relaunch project well under way! B) a group from The Write Reads have decided to read there way through Poirot also and they are jumping in with this one.

Bad Habits
Flynn Meaney

The Write Reads Ultimate Blog tour

Release Date: 11/2/21
My Tour Date: 14/2/21

I have yet to start this one but the others I have spoken to on the tour have said this is hillariously funny. I have also heard a few negatives about the feminist view points it takes (JKR is heralded a lot which is not a view I agree with) so we will see what side I fall on this.

The Archive of the Forgotten
A.J. Hackwith

eARC

Hell’s Library

Release : 9/2/21

I got a last minute eARC for the UK release of this beauty and as I enjoyed The Library of the Unwritten I am very very excited to dive in. I will be starting this almost immediately so I can review it on time as I really would like to create some buzz about this series.

Witherward
Hannah Mathewson

Witherward #1

eARC
Release: 16/2/21

Alternative, Fantasy London where its summer in February and magic fills the streets, With six waring magic factions. It just sounds like my perfect kind of read. It sounds like it has a little bit of everything I love from magic to mystery and intrigue and Victoriana steampunk aesthetics. I am excited.

The Echo Wife
Sarah Gailey

eARC

Release: 18/2/21

I love Sarah Gailey’s writing and I think this murder mystery thriller, with sci-fi leanings sounds just awesome. I think this is going to be one of those books that bends the mind and just swallows you. Another one I am super excited for.

The Fellowship of the Ring
J.R.R Tolkien

The Lord Of the Rings

TWR gang readalong

Yes along with the other buddy reads I am attempting this month I also have added Lord of the Rings to the pile. The group have decided to start The Fellowship of the Ring mid way through February and while I will not be finishing it this month it still goes on the TBR. I have attempted to read this series many times and keep getting stuck and Tom Bombadil so I am hoping the group can pull me through all his singing and I can finally finish it!!!

Phew! that is a somewhat chunky TBR. There are a few more early March ARCs I would like to squeeze in if I can but these are my priorities so I havent listed them here but If I do make it through this list I will be jumping into them.

I would love to chat all things bookish with you! You can comment down below or find me on Twitter or Goodreads!

Happy Reading!
