I can’t find who started the Friday Five book blog meme. It seems to crop up in many different style such as “Five for Friday”, “Five on Friday” , “FridayFive Challenge”. I also can’t find a topic list like you would have for the Six on Sunday meme. Therefore, I am just doing my own thing and setting my own topics just so I can chat books with you.

2021 Release I haven’t gotten to yet
The year 2021 is coming to an end and there are still so many books on my TBR I haven’t gotten to yet. These are five 2021 releases that I want to prioritise and actually read before the year ends.

The Spirit Engineer
A. J. West
I treated myself to the Goldsboro edition of this one when I was on my November Wedding Anniversary trip to London. I had planned to read it on the train back but got engrossed in Nanowrimo Writing that I just didn’t pick it up. It has been looking beautiful on my shelf ever since but I just need to pick it up as it sounds fascinating, especially as it is based around real events.

Lore Olympus: Vol 1
Rachel Smythe
I ordered the Illumicrate special edition and then just haven’t cracked it open. It has such gorgeous art work that I knew I would need time to sit and look at it all and appreciate it and Now I have the time. It is a Hades and Persephone retelling set in a modern and comedic setting so I know I am going to love it. I like an afternoon with a hot chocolate under the Christmas tree is in order.

ExtraOrdinary
V.E. Schwab, Enid Balám
Villians #1.5
Again purchased at the same time as Lore Olympus I just need the time to sit down and read this. I really enjoyed the Villians series and I think it is going to be so interesting to get more insight into other EOs living in that world.

The Wolf and the Woodsman
Ava Reid
I have heard so many good things about this book and I even have an AudioARC (granted after publication) that I just haven’t had time for inspired by Hungarian history and Jewish mythology and is compared to Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik and Katherine Arden’s national bestseller The Bear and the Nightingale and I have loved both of them. So I need to get to this one.

The Prison Healer
Lynette Noni
Another book my bookish friends have raved about and that arrived in a book box and I just haven’t carved out the time for. It seems like this is going to be one of those once you have started you can’t put it down sort of reads I have heard great things about the pacing and the plot so it is definitely getting read this month!
Are there any 2021 releases you haven’t picked up yet? are they making your 2021 TBR or are you moving them on to 2022?
I would love to chat all things bookish with you! You can comment down below or find me on Twitter or Goodreads!
Happy Reading!
Oh The Prison Healer is so good! It’s a quick read though. It’s sequel is even better. The Wolf and The Woodsman is on my TBR as well.
