WWW Wednesday – 18/5/2022

I have had a pretty hard week when it comes to my mental health and that drove me into a reading slump. Nothing held my attention and despite having some amazing books to read. It wasn’t until Monday that I managed to pick up a book again and I finished it yesterday, I am hoping that I can return to a couple of the other books I have started, and get my reviews up for you

Happy Wednesday!

Its that time of the Week again! WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme that was revived by Taking on a World of Words. I like it cause it is fairly simple but allows me to check in with my reading but also with you!

WWW Wednesday asks just three questions:

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

WHAT BOOK HAVE YOU RECENTLY FINISHED?

Under Fortunate Stars
Ren Hutchings

physical ARC
Release Date UK: 12/5/2022

I was loving this one when I started it but when the reading slump hit, my brain just didn’t have the attention span that this deserved. It had such interesting universe building history and lore and was setting up such a complex weaving of timelines that I knew I had to put it down so it could get my full attention later. Now that my slump is broken I am eager to pick it up again.

Cursed
Benedict Jacka

Alex Verus #2

I started this series last year and enjoyed book one. Its a fun urban fantasy with some really interesting worldbuilding. It does fall into some pretty obvious trope holes but I am hoping as the series continues those will be broken down more. During my reading slump I found books 2 and 3 in my local charity bookstore and couldn’t resist buying them, I found myself throwing book 2 into my bag on Monday morning and managed to fly through the first 120 pages on the train into work. It was such a fast paced read and an enjoyable plot that it thankfully broke my reading slump. I will have a full review up shortly.

Doing Time
Jodi Taylor

The Time Police #1

So I don’t fall back into my slump I think it need pick up something I know I am going to love, that is going to keep my interest and that is going to keep me turning the pages. The spin off series of Jodi Taylor’s Chronicles of St Mary’s books, one of my favourite series of all time, is a sure bet.

So that is my WWW post for this week. I will see you next Wednesday to update you. What are you reading this week? Have you finished anything lately you loved?

I would love to chat all things bookish with you! You can comment down below or find me on Twitter or Goodreads!

Happy Reading!

  1. Ah I’ve never spoken to anyone else who’s read the Chronicles of St. Mary’s books! I adore them all — I hadn’t heard of the Time Police spinoff though! I need to go look into that!
