Its November tomorrow which means its time for National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo. This means writers all over the world and putting some focus in to try and get 50,000 words down on the page. The standard set up is you start a new novel on November first and work towards hitting that word goal by writing around 1,617 words a day, getting into a the habit of writing and hopefully making headway towards finishing that book.
I have decided I am putting aside my Sci-fi Mystery- Death on the Lark. While I am about 1/3rd of the way into my draft I am a little stuck on a few points and I need some time to work out what I want to happen. I am hoping by switching projects my brain can work on Death on the Lark in the background and figure out what needs to happen next. I have also had an idea in the back of my mind that I am really excited to get started on. It is so different from other ideas I have had, but it has also came to me so easily. I love the characters, the setting and how it is all coming together in my mind. I am really excited to get started.
My Project
Working Title: Wrong Connection
Genre: Thriller/Urban Fantasy
Current stage: Basic Synopsis, some world-building.
What I want to accomplish in NanoWriMo 2022:
I just want to have a classic Nanowrimo and get 50,000 words into this story. The view I have for what this is going to be is so different from what I have written before. It is more psychological thriller with fantastical and paranormal elements. Honestly I have so many scenes in my mind as well as a beginning middle and end. However, I am not quite sure how they are all going like up quite yet. For the first time I am some what pantsing this one. I have a basic outline but nothing formal so I am just going to explore while I write and hope it just allows me to be creative. A few things I do have that I haven’t done before is I have a couple of mood boards and the start of a playlist which I might share later. The idea of this project just has me so excited and I have so many random notes that I just can’t wait to start pulling them together into a proper story.
Later in the week I will have my NaNoWriMo Bullet journal post up so you can have a look at how I track my writing. I am also going to do writing updates every Sunday to let you know how I am getting on and if I am managing to hit my goals. So there will be a mix of bookish and writing posts on my blog this month.
Are you doing NanoWriMo this year? What are you working on?
Lets hope its another winning year for us all!
I would love to chat all things bookish with you! You can comment down below or find me on Twitter or Goodreads!
Happy Reading!
Good luck on your goals!

This is my sixth year of doing NaNo and I’m so excited! I’m working on a sci-fi project currently titled “Nothing Here Worth Dying For” and because I once again failed to remember that November comes around quickly, I am kind of pantsing this one! Which is definitely a bad choice for a story that requires a lot of world-building and problem-solving, so I’ll likely be writing and continuing to plot and outline as the weeks go on! Really excited to read your future updates, I’m always so curious to see how other people write and approach NaNo.

It’s my sixth Nano too! The sci-fi project I switched from was actually a re-build of the first nano I won. I used to just do it for the heck of it but this year I have really focused on my writing as something I want to do.
