Dewey’s 24hr Readathon

Yes its that time again! It maybe my second 24hr-athon this month but I do love them.

For me the 24hrs officially starts and 1pm on Sat 28th and finished 12:59pm on Sunday 29th!

TBR

I am keeping my TBR simple and using the time over the next 24hrs to finish those last reads for the Magical Owls Readathon.

I only have 3 exams left!!!! They are:

38619945
The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert.

I have started this book and I am currently 110 pages in and enjoying it. i am looking forward to see where This story goes. It will count towards my Herbology Owl and will most likely be the first book finished for this readathon

30846371

The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli

I am hoping to get to this one in the time. It counts for my Divination OWL and like Hermione I have not quite got round to it yet. Who knows it might be my favourite book of the whole readathon!

35967101 or 51Z8IbPl84L

For the Arithmancy Owl I have been attempting to read

The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton.

I am about 100 pages into the book but I have found it a difficult one to focus on. It has a very intricate plot so far and as the majority of my reading is done on my commute to and from work I have not managed to keep track. This readathon may provide the perfect time to focus on this book and get those pages turning.

However, if I find myself unable to give The seven deaths my full attention I have a back up.

The Third Girl by Agatha Christie

Over the past 6 months I have been slowly working my way through Agatha Christie’s body of work (I should really write a Blog post for this). i have not been working through them in a particular order I have just been reading those that take my fancy, become available at the library or I find in the treasure trove of my local charity bookshops. The are always great readathon reads as the are always short, sassy and exciting.

Opening survey

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

I am reading from Edinburgh in Scotland, it’s been raining on and off today so perfect reading weather!

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

I am looking forward to starting The Last Namsara as I have no idea about it. It was a Fairyloot book so I am going in blind and I like that.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

Coconut milk Mochas and cookies!

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

I have a PhD in Evolutionary Biology. My hair is currently 5 different colours, and I might have an addiction to readathons. Currently I am participating in the 24 hour readathon, the magical readathon and will start the one readathon to rule them all tomorrow.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

I am just wanting to sit and read as much as I can, guilt free.

Wrap Up

So that is the 24 hours completed and while i didn’t finish all three books I wanted too I did manage to tick two off the list.

I completed both The Hazel Wood and The Third girl completing a total of 555 pages!

As these are part of my OWLs Readathon My full review and wrap up will be contained there.

I didn’t read for the whole 24 hours finding myself falling asleep in hour 11 and not waking again until 7 this morning. What I truly love about these readathons is knowing I am reading with 1800+ other individuals. I love the twitter discussions and the comradary that develops from these events. I am looking forward to the next Dewey’s 24hour readathon in October. Now I am off make my TBR for The One Readathon to Rule them all!
