End of the Year Book Tag

Its almost the middle of November, the Edinburgh Christmas festival starts next weekend! So we are very much gearing up for the end of the year. While in work this means finishing off projects so I can enjoy my time off and start fresh in the New Year. In my bookish life it also means tidying the shelves, sorting my TBR pile and getting ready for all those new additions from Christmas and 2019. I thought I would do the End of the Year tag in order to start this process.

This tag was first created by Ariel Bissett.

Questions

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

Oh there are soo many, I have a list of about 10 books I have started and not finished for a host of different reasons. I also have a list of 7/8 books I have placed on various TBRs throughout the year that I just didn’t have time to get to. I am thinking about doing a personal End of year readathon in December that would focusing on finishing those books we haven’t read but want to finish. If anyone would like to join me give me a shout in the comments.

Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

I love reading mysteries and crime in Autumn but high-fantasy in the Winter/Christmas period so I love reading the Rivers of London Series as a transition. It also helps that the new books in the series tend to launch in November with the seventh in the series due out on the 15th! I am very excited.

Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

Lies Sleeping
Ben Aaronovich

Release: 15th Nov 2018

Like I said above Novels and novellas for this series tend to come out around November with the graphic novels interspersed between that. These are by far one of my favourite series. The Audiobooks are also excellent, the narrator Kobina Holdbrook Smith just beings each and every character to life. I love re-reading both the physical books and the audiobooks.

What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

I am hoping to tackle a couple of these during the up coming Tome Topple. They were all among my most anticipated books of 2018 and while i have started them I haven’t been able to dedicate the time i wanted too them but I am going to read them in November/December! I have a buddy read set up for The Poppy war as part of Tome Topple and if i finish my other reads Muse of Nightmares is on my list.  The Consuming Fire should be a fast paced read so I am sure I can fit it in sooner rather than later. If i don’t please shout at me till I read these!

Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favourite book of the year?

Honestly it is most likely going to end up a tie between Lies Sleeping, which is really just a given when it comes to by favourite books as I do love the series. But I have read some outstanding books this year and I have a feeling both The Poppy War and Muse of nightmares will be among those ranks. My favourites of 2018 post in the New year might have to have some complex categories  so i can fit them all in.

Have you already started making reading plans for 2019?

Oh I have big plans. There are so many books coming out that I am very keen to get my hands on. I also have some big plans for the blog including but not limited to some big re-reads in anticipation of new releases with book diaries, Some tie in with video games as we are a gaming and reading household and I am participating in some awesome readathons all that need planning. Details about all my plans will be announced near the end of the year, keep an eye out for them and if you want to join in I would love some company in my many projects.

What are your end of 2018 reading plans? What books do you want to get to? I tag you to do this tag!

Happy Reading
