The Christmas Song Book Tag

I have another Festive tag for you today! Again this one is inspired by Christmas music. This one was originally created by Hailey in Bookland. Unlike my years working in retail where I would be sick of all these songs long before now I have yet to hear any this year. I am sure I will in the next week.

The questions.

1. “YOU’RE A MEAN ONE MR. GRINCH” NAME A VILLAINUS CHARACTER YOU COULDN’T HELP BUT LOVE.

Harriet Stoker
The Reckless Afterlife of Harriet Stoker
Lauren James

Harriet Stoker was an amazing villain in her own novel. She just kept getting darker and darker as she lots control and became power hungry (literally). This was a really interesting and fun premise and I really think this book deserved a bit more hype than I saw it getting. It was a New adult paranormal that was really really character driven with a lot of nostalgia thrown in too. You can read my full review Here.

2. “ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU” WHICH BOOK TO YOU MOST HOPE TO SEE UNDER YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE?

The Ordeal of the Haunted Room
Jodi Taylor

Chronicles of St Mary’s

Like most book bloggers I have a wish list a mile long that I would be ecstatic to find a book or two from that list under my tree. One I know will definitely be making its way to me on Christmas as I have it on preorder, it is a kindle book and it is released on the 25th of December. I love the Chronicles of St Mary’s series and the Chrstmas adventure short stories are always so much fun. I can’t wait to read it ( I am planning on downloading it and reading it before I get out of bed to open presents, as a little happy Christmas from me to me).

3. “RUDOLPH THE RED NOSED REINDEER” NAME A CHARACTER THAT OVERCOMES MAJOR OBSTACLES AND LEARNS TO BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES.

Fetch Phillips
The Last Smile in Sunder City
Luke Arnold

Fetch Phillips#1

True to the Noir style to this urban/high Fantasy novel, Fetch Phillips is a down on his luck PI that hates himself and his fellow Humans so much that he refuses to help them focusing only on non-human clients. He really goes through the works on this one as we learn about his past and how it is linked with the world he lives in, and where his hatred comes from. I don’t know if he fully learns to believe in himself but I think he learns he can start to make a difference in the world and to really help those in need and I think that is good progress for this character. Both books in the series so far have been awesome and I have really enjoyed them. You can find my review for Book 1 HERE and Book 2 HERE.

4. “SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN”
A) WHICH CHARACTER DO YOU THINK WOULD BE ON THE TOP OF THE NAUGHTY LIST?

All the Characters
The Beast and the Bethany
Jack Meggitt-Phillips

The beast and The Bethany #1

An amazing Middle grade that was so much fun to read. I was part of the blog tour for this and it was a big hit across the board with everyone loving how devious and naughty yet loveable all the same. All of theme deserve to be on the Naughty list, especially the Beast. You can read my full review of this Devilish delight HERE

B) WHICH CHARACTER DO YOU THINK WOULD BE AT THE TOP OF THE NICE LIST?

Tilly Pages
Tilly and the Bookwanderers
Anna James

Pages and Co #1

I have read the whole trilogy this year and absolutely fell in love with Tilly and the Pages family, And Pages and Co book shop, the British Underlibrary and Tilly’s world in general. I think this was such an imaginative set of stories that I really enjoyed completely start to finish. I think all the Pages and Tilly’s best friend Oskar deserve to be on the Nice list. You can find my reviews here for Book1 and Book2, or Book3

5. “FROSTY THE SNOWMAN” WHICH BOOK JUST MELTS YOUR HEART.

Before the Coffee gets cold: Tales from the Cafe
Toshikazu Kawaguchi

Before the Coffee gets Cold #2

Oh this made me tear up so much. It was such a sweet and beautiful read. I really enjoyed both the first in the series and this continuation. The translation is very good and seems to convey the emotion very well. This one explores family a lot more than the previous book and the various family relationships. I have a full review Here.

6. “FELIZ NAVIDAD” CHOOSE A BOOK THAT TAKES PLACE IN A COUNTRY OTHER THAN YOUR OWN.

The Unlikely Escape of Uriah Heep
H.G Parry

This is a fantastic Urban Fantasy set in New Zealand. I don’t think I have ever read a book set in New Zealand before this one and it was such a good book with such a great plot. I really enjoyed getting to explore Wellington with all the various classical fictional characters as well as getting to know the two main characters and there sibling relationship. You can read my full review Here.

7. “IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR” WHICH HOLIDAY THEMED BOOK DO YOU USE TO SPREAD THE CHRISTMAS JOY?

For the answer to this question you can check out my post from yesterday where I talk about my Five Festive Favourites.

8. “SLEIGH RIDE” WHICH FICTIONAL CHARACTER WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO SPEND THE HOLIDAYS WITH (DOESN’T HAVE TO BE A LOVE INTEREST!)

I am going to be cheeky and say look for my blogmas post tomorrow where I am describing my perfect fictional festive party, where i will be talking about all the characters I would invite round for drinks, snacks and party games. So If you are interested in knowing who I would invite, read my post tomorrow.

9. “BABY IT’S COLD OUTSIDE” WHICH BOOK THAT YOU DIDN’T LIKE WOULD YOU SACRIFICE TO A FIRE TO WARM YOURSELF UP IN THE COLD?

Harrow Lake
Kat Ellis

This book isnt just bad its dangerous. I really really disliked this book. I really feel it is extremely problimatic. You can find out why I feel that way in my review (Here). I would happily burn it for warmth without hesitation.

10. “DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR” WHICH BOOK DO YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD READ?

Amari and the Night Brothers
B.B Aeston

Amari and the Night Brothers

I was so so so lucky to be part of the blog tour for this one. You can read my full gush review here. Now this book isn’t out yet but I guarantee it is going to be a very loved book as it is that fun and magical and awesome. So I would get your pre-order in as a little post Christmas gift to yourself to cheer yourself up mid Janauary with such a magical read.

I tag anyone that fancies giving this one a go. It is great fun and has some really unusual questions, which made it a lot of fun coming up with the answers. Let me know if you do this tag i would love to know your answers!
