From Goodreads:
Where there are ghosts, Cassidy Blake follows … unless it’s the other way around?
Cass thinks she might have this ghost-hunting thing down. After all, she and her ghost best friend, Jacob, have survived two haunted cities while travelling for her parents’ TV show.
But nothing can prepare Cass for New Orleans, which wears all of its hauntings on its sleeve. In a city of ghost tours and tombs, raucous music and all kinds of magic, Cass could get lost in all the colourful, grisly local legends. And the city’s biggest surprise is a foe Cass never expected to face: a servant of Death itself.
*Cass takes on her most dangerous challenge yet… *
My Thoughts
We are back with Cassidy and her Parents as they travel the world filming there ghost hunting show ‘the Inspectors’. This time the show brings them to New Orleans. I have personally only had the chance to visit New Orleans once but it was a feast for the senses, almost overwhelming filled with music, food, history, where life and death bump up against each other and are celebrated. That is perfectly encapsulated by Schwab, we get to feel the jazz in the French quarter and the descriptions of the food is amazing. It makes you hungry.
I feel this one does focus a lot more of Cassidy’s plot than the city’s ghost stories, which the other books in the series retold so beautifully in the other books. I really enjoyed those parts of the previous books and I wish we had focused on new Orleans and its ghost stories just a little more. It feels like we didn’t get to explore the city and learn as much as we have with the other books.
The action in this book is a little darker than the previous books which was great. It has just as much of the creepy little moments that make your spine tingle. I really liked the build up towards the ending and overall enjoyed the book.
