Happy Tuesday Everyone! I am making it a Tag Tuesday with another Festive Booktag.
The holidays are marching closer and closer and with only three days left at work till I am officially on Annual leave for the remainder of the year! I am very much looking forward to my time off and catch up on all my reading.
This Tag was originally created by Lizzie Loves Books.
This tag is based around the song 12 Days of Christmas with each of the days representing a book. These are some really difficult questions but I am going to try and select just one book or series for each of the answers even though I could pick 5 or six for each. I am also trying to use 2021 reads to diversify my answers from last year but its difficult.
The Questions
ON THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: A PARTRIDGE IN A PEAR TREE.
The partridge stood alone in the pear tree. What is your favourite stand alone this year?

Under the Whispering Door
T J Klune
My Review
This book was just gorgeous from cover to cover. It has such a beautiful and calming vibe, wonderful characters and and worldbuilding. It is one of those warm blanket of a reads where you feel safe and secure and can loose yourself in the thoughts it provokes and the quiet calm it instils. Its just a beautiful book.
ON THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: TWO TURTLE DOVES.
Love is in the air! Who is your one true pairing this year?

Robin and Edwin
A Marvellous Light
Freya Marske
The Last Binding #1
My Review
I have raved about this book since I finished it in early December because it is just such a fun read. I loved both Robin and Edwin. They have such a fantastic and steamy romance and they work so well together as a team. I am really looking forward to what happens next in this series.
ON THE THIRD DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: THREE FRENCH HENS.
In the spirit of threes, what is the best trilogy you have read this year?

The Infernal devices
Cassandra Clare
My Reviews:
Book 1
Book 2
Book 3
I haven’t read a lot of trilogies this year, or finished any off. The only one I can think of that I have read and finished this year is the Infernal Devices Trilogy which i finished in January. It is probably the best of the Shadow Hunters series so far.
ON THE FOURTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: FOUR CALLING BIRDS.
Since series usually consist of four or more books, what is your favourite series this year?

Six Stories
Matt Wesoloweski
Six Sories
My Reivews:
Book 1
Book 2
Book 3
Book 4
I started this series as a buddy read and I have adored it. I still need to review book 5 on here and I cant wait for book six to be released in January. I definitely think this is my favourite series of the year. I listened to them as audiobooks as they were full cast and worked amazingly with the podcast style format.
ON THE FIFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: FIVE GOLDEN RINGS.
One ring to rule them all! Who is your favourite Villain/Antagonist this year?
I don’t know If I have a favourite villain this year. There haven’t been any books I can think of any truly think had really villainous character I have read this year. I will give an honourable mention to All of Us Villains that obviously had a number of villainous characters that you end up having sympathy for them in the situations they are put into.
ON THE SIXTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: SIX GEESE A LAYING.
Creation is a beautiful thing. What is your favourite world/world-building this year?

The Goblin Emperor
Katherine Addison
The Goblin Emperor #1
My Review
This series is mostly world building and I love that. I read both the Goblin Emperor and The witness for the dead this year and was blown away with the attention to detail in the world but also how well it worked with the story. I am excited that they have announced a third book in this world too
ON THE SEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: SEVEN SWANS A SWIMMING.
Who needs seven swans when all it takes is one good animal sidekick? Who’s your favourite animal sidekick this year?

Ragne
Little Theives
Margaret Owen
My Review
Less animal side kick and more powerful mythical-being sidekick that can turn into an animal at will. She was a fantastic character, sassy and sweet with an awesome romance side plot. I really enjoyed this book and all its characters as well as its excellent heist plot!
ON THE EIGHTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: EIGHT MAIDS A MILKING.
Milk is so 18th century. Which book or series takes beverages/food to a whole new level?

Midnight in Everwood
M. A. Kuzniar
My Review
While I wasn’t the biggest fan of this book as a whole I still really enjoyed it and the one this it did really well was all the descriptions of food. There are lots of varying sweet treats scattered around this world and story. And while I thought they got a little tedious after a while they did all sound delicious.
ON THE NINTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: NINE LADIES DANCING.
Dancing is just one skill of a Lady! Who is your favourite kickass female lead this year?

Touraine
The Unbroken
C. L. Clark
My Review
This is another one of my favourite reads of the year. It is filled with is jam packed with strong, beautiful women of all shapes, sizes, with disability rep, chronic pain rep, gay, bi, pan and non-binary rep. The world building is phenomenal and plot is exciting.
ON THE TENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: TEN LORDS A LEAPING.
How about your favourite leading lad this year?
Not a lot of leading men this year. So I will have to return to an old favoruite that I happened to re-read as a buddy read with friends this year and that is PC Peter Grant from the Rivers of London Series by Ben Aaronovich. I adore Peter and can’t wait for the 9th book which is out in April 2022!
ON THE ELEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: ELEVEN PIPES PIPING.
What is your favourite book or bookish thing with musical influence? (It can be about music, reference music a lot etc.)

Instructions for Dancing
Nicola Yoon
My Review
This is the only book I have read in 2021 that has a musical influence (other than the nutcracker inspired Midnight in Everwood) and it was a cute read at that. I am not usually a contemporary Romance reader but The Write Reads always picks awesome tour books and I am glad I picked up this one as it was cute.
ON THE TWELFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: 12 DRUMMERS DRUMMING.
Drum roll please…what is your favourite read of this year?
I don’t really have a favourite read there are just so many amazing 5 star reads to mention. I will be going a Favourites of 2021 later in the month which will have all the 5 star reads I have loved this year, But a lot of the books in this tag are on that list
I would like to tag anyone who hasn’t done this tag yet but would like to!
