Title: The Toast of Time
Author: Jodi Taylor
Series: Chronicles of St Mary’s #12.5
4 stars
From Goodreads:
Once again, the Toast of Time falls butter side down. Dr ‘Max’ Maxwell prepares for her very first Christmas away from St Mary’s…
It’s that most wonderful time of the year once more. But Max and Markham are a long way from St Mary’s. What sort of Christmas will it be without their loved ones?
Settle down with a mince pie and a small sherry and prepare for an unlikely combination of Flying Auctions, Fabergé eggs, duped Time Police officers, the Parish Council, a TWOCed Bentley (no, not that one), legendary swords and a belligerent ram.
Will it be Peace and Goodwill to all men? Well, we all know the answer to that…
My Thoughts
Every year Jodi Taylor give St Mary’s fans a little Christmas present in the form of a Christmassy Short story. They do contain spoilers for the series so if like me you are not caught up you may spoil yourself for some of the outcomes of book 12 (Yes, its been almost a year and I haven’t read book 12 yet!) but as they are stand alone adventures the spoiler’s are very few. This one was different from others as we are not in St Mary’s and Peterson is not part of the crew in this years Christmas Adventure, instead we have Max and Markham causing their usual brand of havoc across the timeline as they try to beat the Time Police in closing down a black market auction. This is the usual fast paced mayhem you expect from a St Mary’s book with a cute ending that is the perfect Christmas Day read.
