I am participating the the Winter round of the Bookie trials. It is running from today the 2nd of December to the 9th December and it is an ‘Anti-readathon’.
I have moved teams for this iteration of the readathon. I retook the personality test and I was give Scribe. So I am happily team scribe moving forward!
After the Bookie Trials – hunt for the bookie grail in the summer our beautiful deamons were taken captive by The Evil Enchanter. It is our job to band together and traverse the map as quickly as possible this means finding and reading as few books as possible to fit the prompts! (Hence the anti- readathon as it is focusing on reading and enjoying a small amount of books instead of a large amount).
My Deamons
I have also changed my deamons. Originally I had posted about my squirrel cat called Reichis but since I have acquired there two cuties and i would battle to the ends of the earth for them. For those that have not encountered gushing about these tiny kitties, I will introduce Mogget (White and Black) and Maisie (Black).

The Prompts

My TBR

Vicious
V.E. Schwab
I will be reading just one book! Yes just one that fits all the prompts. I am part of a large buddy read with multiple members of each team so we are a formidable force in the Queen’s Armada!
I think it is also safe to say this book has been recommended by many booktubers/book bloggers but one of the most prominent is Lea @DrumsofAutumn , who is an avid Schwab fan. So I can definitely say I have made it to the Serpentine Allegiance.
The rest of the prompts are rather self explanatory as to how Vicious fits in or how I will be reading the book. Yesterday we decorated for the Festive season so the whole house has that lovely cozy feeling. I am really looking forward to the buddy read too. Its going to be a really nice start to the month.
Scavenger Hunt
So the Queen Rachael Marie has put together a scavenger hunt for all the tools we will need before we head out on our quest. It was originally run as a competition but the closing date was the 30th of November. Instead I am doing this for fun because I want to!
The Books
1. You will be crossing the Eastern Sea, you’ll need a 𝐁𝐎𝐀𝐓

Darkdawn – Jay Kristoff
The absolutely gorgeous design for Mr Kindly has a galleon sailing down his spine.
2. To be under-dressed in Orc Eaves is an offence, wear something 𝐄𝐋𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐘 𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐆𝐍𝐄𝐃

The Starless sea – Erin Morgenstern
Its just a beautifully designed book inside and out. even the chapter headings have beautiful little details. This Waterstone’s edition with the edge design and naked cover design just adds more and more.
3. You need 𝗪𝐎𝐎𝐃 to keep The Beacon of Hope lit .

Onyx and Ivory – Mindee Arnett
I adored this book it was one of my favourite reads of 2018 and I love the imagery on the cover. The white tree just draws me in.
4. To work with The Serpentine Allegiance you first need to master the language, speak with our own 𝐃𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐎𝐍𝐒/𝗪𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐃𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐎𝐍𝐒

The Priory of the Orange tree – Samantha Shannon
How could I not pick this one. The glittery blue dragon against the orange background is just stunning.
5. Tell the dears at Rural Haven that you are thankful – with a gift of 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓

Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy – Douglas Adams
I went back into my favourites shelf and pulled out a very sparkly copy of one of my all time favourites. This copy is special to me as it was a gift from my roommate from my time in the USA.
6. In order to gain entry, show Eastern Escape that you are an ally to 𝐏𝐎𝐂𝐬

A River Of Royal Blood – Amanda Joy
I just received this in my November Fairyloot and I think it just looks gorgeous. I was not familiar with the book before it arrived but it has me very interested, a North African inspired fantasy with blood magic and political intrigue, sounds amazing.
7. Lay 𝐅𝐋𝐎𝗪𝐄𝐑𝐒 at Graves End of those already passed

The Ten Thousand Doors of January- Alix E. Harrow
One of my highest rated books of 2019 I adored this portal fantasy, which has a stunning cover filled with flowers and keys.
8. Whilst hiding from the Frost Giants keep warm with 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐄

Middlegame – Seanan McGuire
I strangely have very few books with fire on the cover. Though i like the used of photography and font work on this cover. It’s so simple yet elegant. It really stands out.
9. Rebuild some of the Desolate Ruins with 𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐒

Sorcery of Thorns – Margaret Rogerson
Another highly rated book of 2019! I struggled with finding vines on any cover, lots of bracken and leaves but no vines, but there are a few vines wrapping there way round this cover.
10. Gather the 𝐁𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐒 of Daemonic Residue – we will bury our Daemons on our own lands.

Vicious – V. E. Schwab
I had to include the book I am reading in this list somewhere and this special edition is perfect for this prompt. Hidden within the blackout poetry is a collection of weaponry and bones.
11. For the dark shard, you will have to sneak. Cloak yourselves in a 𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐊 robe

Angel Mage – Garth Nix
Rather self explanatory. Angel mage is one of my most anticipated books of the year and I have yet to get to it but you might see it cropping up on a TBR soon.
