November was a crazy busy Month. i took a step away from blogging and a lot of reading to be able to focus on starting the draft of my own book during NaNoWriMo. I am so proud of myself for Winning, 50k is a great start and I am well on the way to getting my book started. I am hoping to take a short break and then keep working on it, hoping ot have it ready for a full edit/re-write next Nano. Due to all that I didn’t get as much reading done as I hoped and I didn’t manage to finish all the ARCs i had to read but I am catching up now.

Book of the Month

The Dark Archive
Genevieve Cogman
The Invisible Library #7
My Full Review – Here
I was gifted a finished copy by the publisher via Black Crow PR. I love this series and I am was so excited to get to be part of the Bookstagram tour for this latest instalment. I just raced through this one. Each one of these books has such unique elements to them that build the world and lore around the library even more. I loved the shift towards technology and how that interacts with the magic. The Dark Archive is filled with mystery, twist and turns that make it such a fast paced fun read.
WHAT I READ

Kingdom of the Wicked

Kingdom of the Wicked #1

My Full Review – Here
It took me a while to actually finish this eARC and write the review. Thats because for a good long while my only thoughts were “Eh its ok”. It kind of sums up all my feelings about this book. I saw most of the twist coming, it lacked a lot of worldbuilding and the romance plot was lack lustre, but there were also some super interesting elements and it ended on a strong and intriguing note. Also just as the plot gets going it sort of peters out and sets up for the next book which it didn’t need, as the story is slow. I am still just meh about it.

I loved the first two books in this series so snapped up the third. The hard cover copy is gorgeous and the story is just as fun as the first. This actually did an amazing job of describing that powerlessness you feel when you have to leave things in the hands of others. I read this during the American election and that description of hoping it will work out when you physically can’t change the outcome is just perfectly described. We got to explore so much more of the book magic too so I really loved this little escape.

Memento
Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
The Illuminae Files #0.5
I just picked this up as I wanted a quick little read I could get through quickly and i had been meaning to read this for a while. I really enjoyed the Illuminae Files and the particular mixed media format it had so it was nice to dive back into that universe and learn a bit more about ADAIN. Its Short sweet and gives a wee bit extra insight!

Glassheart
Katharine Orton

My Full Review – Here
his is a really interesting Middle Grade historical fantasy, with a some dark and a little bit creepy magic. I really enjoyed it, it was so sad at times, magical and spooky at others. I really liked Nona the MC (Nona used to be a nick name of mine so I am bias). It deals with grief and survivors guilt beautifully, which is something I haven’t seen in a middle grade before.
So that was my short and sweet November Wrap up. Hopefully i can catch up with my ARC backlog in December. How did your November reading month go?
