Its time for another Tag Tuesday and I have another fun Festive tag for you today! This one was created by Kate at Reading through Infinity. I think this is a really lovely tag taking you through a whole story. I am basing my answers on my 2021 finished book so hopefully you will find some fun additions to your TBR
The Questions
You get up on Christmas morning and your stocking is full! You take it down and start to unwrap the treats inside. The first thing you see is…
AN ORANGE! WHICH BOOK IS REFRESHING AND VIBRANT, BOTH INSIDE AND OUT?

Threadneedle
Cari Thomas
The Language of Magic #1
My Review
This book has just amazing worldbuilding, we have vintage shops filled with magical items, magical libraries buried under the British library and nightclubs that resemble the fairy court scenes from Shakespeare! All this is tucked into modern British living, it makes the magical world seem accessible. The copy I own is the Goldsboro edition which is a gorgeous red colour with black stencilled edges of the London skyline.
THE NEXT THING YOU SEE IS A BAG OF CHOCOLATE COINS. (YUM) WHICH BOOK HAVE YOU RECENTLY BOUGHT THAT WAS EXPENSIVE, BUT TOTALLY WORTH THE HIGH PRICE?

The Green Bone Saga
Fonda Lee
When Illumicrate announced they were doing copies of the Green bone saga I just knew I had to get them. The pictures cannot do it justice. the are naked hardbacks with gorgeous embossing and matching sprayed edges. I am hoping to have some time to sit down and work my way through the whole series.
YOU ALSO PULL OUT A BATH BOMB. TELL US ABOUT A BOOK THAT HAD EXPLOSIVE ACTION SCENES.

Empire of the Vampire
Jay Kristoff
Empire of the Vampire #1
My Thoughts
I am very biased about this book as I explain in my post above I was Jay’s Science advisor for the worldbuilding and that was such a fun experience. The story itself is filed with action right from the start that are paired up with some fantastically quiet calm discussion that really flesh out the characters. their are so many good scenes that I couldn’t describe just one.
NEXT IS A PACK OF PLAYING CARDS. WHICH SERIES WON YOU OVER?

The Infernal Devices
Cassandra Clare
My Reivews:
Clockwork Angel
Clockwork Prince
Clockwork Princess
I wasn’t too convinced about the Shadow hunters series until I read the Infernal Devices. I adored this series it had the perfect mix of drama and romance. I loved the characters and how it gave history to the Mortal instrument books.
YOU ALSO GET A CANDLE. WHICH CHARACTER IS A SYMBOL OF HOPE IN THEIR STORY?

A Master of Djinn
P. Djèlí Clark.
Dead Djinn Universe #1
My Review
All the major characters in this book are strong decisive women. They are also mainly women of colour as well as being pioneers in their respective professions. They are symbols of hope to the reads as this is set in an alternate reality 1930’s Cairo these women are forging ahead using their strengths and their weaknesses, to kick butt, solve crime and save others from their own stupidity.
THERE ARE SOCKS INSIDE TOO. IS THERE A BOOK THAT YOU THINK REALLY ENCOMPASSES ALL THE DISTINCTIVE TROPES OF ITS GENRE?

You’ll be the Death of Me
Karen M. McManus
My Review
McManus is dubbed the Queen on Teen Crime and she really knows how to play with all the expected tropes and giving you a gripping tale that makes her books impossible to put down.
THERE’S ALSO A NOTEBOOK. WHICH AUTHOR’S WRITING PROCESS DO YOU FIND MOST INTERESTING/INSPIRING?

Mirrorland
Carole Johnstone
My Review
Author Interview
I got the privilege to ask Carole Johnstone some questions as part of The Write Reads Blog Tour for her debut of Mirrorland. I loved getting to ask about why she choose the location of the book, the influences from her own reading, the setting and the experts she consulted came to make up the story and how she goes about plotting such a twisty and turning book. I really enjoy getting to know how an author works and it was so much fun getting to ask those questions.
THERE’S ALSO A SMALL BEDSIDE CLOCK. WHICH BOOK TOOK YOU A LONG TIME TO PICK UP BUT WAS WORTH IT IN THE END?

The Lord of the Rings
J.R.R Tolkein
My Mini reviews:
The Fellowship of the Ring
The Two Towers
The Return of the King
Ok this series literally took me all year to finish, and its the first time in my life I managed to make it through all three books! And yes this is a fantastic story. I think it is one I will have to read again now that I know i can see it through start to finish.
I would love to chat all things bookish with you! You can comment down below or find me on Twitter or Goodreads!
