Mini-Review – Another Time, Another Place

Title: Another Time, Another Place

Author: Jodi Taylor

Series: Chronicles of St Mary’s #12

5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5.

From Goodreads:

It’s long been known that if a thing can go wrong, it will. With knobs on, usually. Disasters start to pile up. A new colleague with no respect for the past and a great deal to prove. Historians lost in time. And – worst of all – Rosie Lee on her very first jump. Then there’s the small matter of Max’s dishonourable discharge.

From Tudor England to the Tower of Babel – it’s all going horribly wrong.

Jobless and homeless, Max receives an offer she can’t refuse. Another time, another place. A refuge, perhaps.

She’s got that wrong, too.

My Thoughts

Mz Taylor a word in my office if you please, we need to discuss the unacceptable level of heart break, anger and anguish brought on by this instalment!

I say this ever time that I don’t know if I could get any more emotionally invested in this series and then I read the next book and it doubles down even harder than ever before. Plan for the worst played with my emotions whirling them around. This one threw the readers emotions on the ground and stomped on them until they are nothing but dust. This book broke me!

Like the others in the series so much happens, from an untimely death, major changes at St Mary’s to things going disastrously wrong in Babylon, Max having to find new work, and a wedding, this book had me sobbing. It is probably one of the darkest books of the series, yet Max keeps her spirit and optimism throughout even though it leads to more and more trouble. I rooted for her and the St Mary’s gang harder than I have ever rooted for them. There were parts of this book that just seemed devastating, where I just wasn’t sure Taylor could twist the knife in any further with twists you just couldn’t see coming. I adored every minute of it.

The ending was the biggest shock of all. I just can’t explain how excited I am for book 13 and just how this new journey for the St Mary’s gang will play out!!!

I would love to chat all things bookish with you! You can comment down below or find me on Twitter or Goodreads!
