My Thoughts
I really enjoyed this book. I have been in several months long reading slump but this was a real slump buster. It was just such a fun fast paced read that hooked me from the start.
I haven’t read any of the other books in the Nosey Parker series but I don’t think you need to to enjoy this book. It did such a good job of endearing you Jodie straight away that you just couldn’t help but get pulled into her story and her investigations. There was such a wit to her narration that i found myself chuckling at several points. I really loved how she was built up as a character and the relationship between her and her family, the banter between them really made this book.
This was also fun as the snow bound manor setting really gave it a Christmassy feel but the mystery itself wasn’t Christmas based. It had a really nice pacing to it really letting you get to know each of the potential suspects before the murder occurred. The red herrings were really well placed and overall the story was really entertaining.
My only gripe was that the ending was a little dull after such superb build up. The over all reveal just lacked a bit of the shock factor for me. I would have liked a little more of a showdown or parlour scene to play into the reveal of who did it and why. Instead the story became a little long winded and there seemed to be to much information needed to tie it all up to make it a five star read.
However, I will most definitely be reading the rest in this series. It was just such a fun read overall and nI hope the other three are just as good.
I read this one last year and have caught up with all of the others since then. They’re all good and I especially love the witty dialogue between the characters. I hope you enjoy the others.
