2022 Wrap-up

Happy Hogmanay

Hogmanay is the Scottish name for New Years Eve and it is traditional to clean the house, reflect on the past year and just before midnight throwing the back windows open to chase the old year out before welcoming the new in through the front door. I like to do a wrap up post to reflect on my bookish goals, the books I have read and what I have achieved with this blog, Instagram etc., to allow me to pick my 2023 goals.

The end of 2022 is nigh and it wasn’t my best year for reading but I really diversified what I read and enjoyed a lot of books. It was another year of being part of The Write Reads Gang with amazing Blog tours and taking part as both a panellist and Team Leader in BBNYA (I am excited for the winners tours). I already have an exciting pile of 2023 ARCs that I can’t wait to share.

Personal Wrap-Up

My Blog has grown from strength to strength with over 500 of you fantastic people following! Book events were back and I got to meet some of my favourite authors which is always fun.

Nail Art is a hobby I took up during lockdown and I am really having so much fun coming up with bookish nail art Ideas some of which got me lots of attention over the past year. I find it really zen especially if i have an audiobook on as I design and paint my nails.

I got very into my writing, I have three solid projects all of which are now at various levels of complete so I just need to buckle down and finish. 2022 saw me joining the Edinburgh SFF Writers group. They are such a supportive and inspirational bunch of amazing people and writers and they really motivate me to keep going with my writing. I even entered a writing competition.

CW: body image and health

2022 was also the year I decided to change the way I think about my body and health. I met my awesome personal trainer and started a journey that has really changed the way I approach my physical fitness, food and has even helped my mental health greatly.

I have big goals for 2023 and will have a post up tomorrow to explain them all!

Reading Wrap up

BOOKS: 108

NOTE: I have been cheeky and added the final book I am reading in 2022 (Nine Liars by Maureen Johnson ) to this count even though I haven’t quite finished but I do have over 12 hours to finish just 100 pages which I think can be done.

PAGES: 33,980

(Page count includes Audiobook page numbers)

108! That is a big number! So many books and so many of them were amazing reads.

I keep looking back through the list and going ‘oh that one was amazing’, ‘that one was so good’, ‘I need to re-read that one’. Very few of my reads were disappointing. I also made great progress on some of my personal challenges. I will be doing an update and setting new goals for each of my personal challenges in the New year including my Agatha Christie Challenge and my Terry Pratchett Project.
