Jan Wrap-up – State of the ARC/Tsundoku Taming

As I said in my 2023 Bookish Goals Post I am really keen on cutting down my owned TBR.

Net Galley Percentage

At the End of the Month my Netgalley Percentage is:

55 %

I am being very consistent and my percentage isn’t actually moving which means I must be reviewing as many as I am getting accepted for. So its good that my percentage is not decreasing, but I think I am going to have to start tackling the backlog to be able to move the percentage up.

Book of the Month

The Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels
Janice Hallett

eARC

Rating: 5 out of 5.

My Review:
So good I read it twice, once in 2022 where it made it into my top reads and then again when it was release in hardback. I haven’t posted my thoughts just yet as I took some impromptu time off but my review is now written and should be up very shortly but this is a good contender for the top books of 2023 already.

Lost in the Moment and Found
Seanan McGuire

eARC

Rating: 5 out of 5.

My Review

The Cloisters
Katy Hays

eARC

Rating: 5 out of 5.

My Review:

I suspected I was going to enjoy this one. this is unlikable characters done right. While it is slow (until the end) I loved how it built up drawing you into the world and the lives of the characters. I will catch up with my review of this one shortly

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder
Holly Jackson

Slay the Series

Rating: 5 out of 5.

My Review

The Second Stranger
Martin Griffin

eARC

Rating: 4 out of 5.

My Review:

This was such a pleasant surprise. From the blurb I was somewhat expecting an And Then There Were None retelling but this went in a completely different manor and was very entertaining. Again my full review will be live soon

Good Girl, Bad Blood
Holly Jackson

Slay the Series

Rating: 4 out of 5.

My Review:

While I didn’t love this as much as the first book in the series I was very much entertained. I really like how dark this series is getting. I will have an official review up soon.

Alice Feeney
Daisy Darker

12 Thrillers

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

My Review:

This started so well but just sort of dwindled off in to a middling And Then There Were None retelling which left me a little disappointed. More on this in my review which will be live soon.

The Library Suicides
Fflur Dafydd

eARC

Rating: 2 out of 5.
