Friday Five – Sci-Fi Series to Finish

I can’t Find who started the Friday Five book blog meme. It seems to crop up in many different style such as “Five for Friday”, “Five on Friday” , “FridayFive Challenge”. I also can’t find a topic list like you would have for the Six on Sunday meme. Therefore I am just doing my own thing and setting my own topics just so I can chat books with you.

Todays topic is

Five Sci-Fi Series I need to finish

these are five series I have started but have yet to finish. They are all completed series/on going that I own all the books (currently out) for so I have no excuse not to pick them up and tick them off the list.

This list was harder than last week as most of the Sci-fi I have on my shelves either I have finished or I haven’t even picked up book 1 yet. In fact I found it a lot easier writing next weeks list with will be Sci-fi series I need to start.

Lock in
John Scalzi

Number of books read 1/2.5

This started life as a standalone which I snapped up, and then a few years ago it expanded into a duology then had a short story added too. While I instantly bought both when they became available I have yet to pick up head on which is strange as John Scalzi is one of my favourite authors. I think I am worried it won’t be as satisfying as Lock in was or that it will change how I feel about it when I thought it was a standalone.

The Murderbot Diaries
Martha Wells

Number of books read 3/6

My Reviews:
Book 1
Book 2
Book 3

My love for murderbot knows no bounds and I really don’t know why I haven’t devoured this series yet and then re-read it like 15 more times. I got books 4 and 5 for christmas and they are sitting there looking at me I just have been so busy I haven’t had a chance to reach for them yet!

Wayfairers
Becky Chambers

Number of books read 1/4

I have all of these, including an eARC of book 4 and I haven’t read books 2 or 3 yet! In fact its been so long since I read book 1 I think I have to re-read it. I remember loving it completely but not much else. I do adore Becky chambers writing and adored To be taught if Fortunate. I think this is another one that just needs a good old fashion binge read. Again I need time!

Chronicles of St Mary’s
Jodi Taylor

Number of books read 9/12 (There is also 2 short story collections and a spin off series! )

I am not linking my reviews as there are far to many but I will be making a series page with all the reviews soon.

I could go on and on and on about this series. I know it is an ever on going one by the current looks of things but I really just want to get up to date and then dive into the spin off Time police series. And then possibly re-read them all . I am thinking this might be a good ‘Thoughts, while re-reading series’ So much happens and I would love to chat about it. What do you think?

The Long Earth
Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter

Number of books read 1/5

I am torn with this one. I think the main reason I havent continues is I dont actually own book 2. I found these books as a setin the charity shop not realising that book 2 was missing and I never really continued. Also while I loved the concept and the Terry Prachettness of that I did find book one to be a little bit of a slog and while I enjoyed it I didnt love it. I think I need to find book 2 at my library and if I like it continue if I dont I might unhaul these.

So those are my five for this week. It was actually a struggle to find unfinished series which I am proud of. What I am not so proud of is all the first books in series on my shelves that I haven’t started but that is the topic for next week.

I would love to chat all things bookish with you! You can comment down below or find me on Twitter or Goodreads!

Happy Reading!

  1. I feel the same exact way about Murderbot! I did finally make it through the novellas and just have the novel left to read. It’s so weird, because as much as I enjoy them, I still tend to put them off. xD Same with my Pratchett novels! Ha. I really do need to pick up St. Mary’s again, though. Those books always go so fast for me, so there’s really no reason for me to keep putting them off.
