Tsunduku Taming

This is my third and final instalment of my new for 2022 TBR format. We have had all my ARCs in my State of the ARC post, a friend has picked to books for me to read in my Friend Picks My TBR post so all there is left is all my other blog projects and buddy reads!

As I said in my 2022 Bookish Goals Post I am really keen on cutting down my owned TBR. I currently have

297 Books

I want to reduce that as much as possible, I am aiming for at least 50% of the books I read this year to be from my owned books. I have aimed to do this through a series of Blog projects such as

CONQUER THE CLASSICS
AGATHA CHRISTIE MYSTERIES
and the new for 2022:
TERRY PRATCHETT PROJECT

I will be doing progress update for all these shortly .

I have also found some fun Instagram challenges that I have adapted to suit me. The first being the Friends choose my TBR the being The A-Z Challenge:

The aim of this is to read books with titles starting with (or when prompted containing) that letter of the Alphabet. I am hoping to complete 2 letters a month, and them do a third if I am having a good reading month. and hopefully complete the whole alphabet this year. I do that will be 26 books off of my TBR shelves!

A-Z

Among Thieves
M. J. Kuhn

My Choice for Prompt A

What the book is about:

A high-stakes heist novel set in a gritty world of magic and malice
In just over a year’s time, Ryia Cautella has already earned herself a reputation as the quickest, deadliest blade in the dockside city of Carrowwick—not to mention the sharpest tongue. But Ryia Cautella is not her real name.
For the past six years, a deadly secret has kept her in hiding, running from town to town, doing whatever it takes to stay one step ahead of the formidable Guildmaster—the sovereign ruler of the five kingdoms of Thamorr. No matter how far or fast she travels, his servants never fail to track her down…but even the most powerful men can be defeated.
Ryia’s path now leads directly into the heart of the Guildmaster’s stronghold, and against every instinct she has, it’s not a path she can walk alone. Forced to team up with a crew of assorted miscreants, smugglers, and thieves, Ryia must plan her next moves very carefully. If she succeeds, her freedom is won once and for all…but unfortunately for Ryia, her new allies are nearly as selfish as she is, and they all have plans of their own.

Black Sun
Rebecca Roanhorse

My Choice for Prompt B

What the book is about:

A god will return
When the earth and sky converge
Under the black sun
In the holy city of Tova, the winter solstice is usually a time for celebration and renewal, but this year it coincides with a solar eclipse, a rare celestial event proscribed by the Sun Priest as an unbalancing of the world.
Meanwhile, a ship launches from a distant city bound for Tova and set to arrive on the solstice. The captain of the ship, Xiala, is a disgraced Teek whose song can calm the waters around her as easily as it can warp a man’s mind. Her ship carries one passenger. Described as harmless, the passenger, Serapio, is a young man, blind, scarred, and cloaked in destiny. As Xiala well knows, when a man is described as harmless, he usually ends up being a villain.

Agatha Christie Project

The ABC Murders
Agatha Christie

Poirot #13
Also part of my Poirot Buddy Read

What the book is about:

When Alice Asher is murdered in Andover, Hercule Poirot is already looking into the clues. Alphabetically speaking, it’s one letter down, twenty-five to go.
There’s a serial killer on the loose. His macabre calling card is to leave the ABC Railway Guide beside each victim’s body. But if A is for Alice Asher, bludgeoned to death in Andover, and B is for Betty Bernard, strangled with her belt on the beach at Bexhill, who will then be Victim C? Considered to be one of Agatha Christie’s best.

A Murder is Announced
Agatha Christie

Ms Marple #4

What the book is about:

“A Murder is Announced” is a staple of crime fiction and often considered as the best Miss Marple novel. The villagers of Chipping Cleghorn, including Jane Marple who is staying nearby, are agog with curiosity over an advertisement in the local gazette which reads: ‘A murder is announced and will take place on Friday October 29th, at Little Paddocks at 6.30 p.m.’ Is this a childish practical joke? Or a hoax intended to scare poor Letitia Blacklock? Unable to resist the mysterious invitation, a crowd gathers at Little Paddocks at the appointed time when, without warning, the lights go out…

Ben Aaronovich

River’s of London #8
Tales from The Folly Buddy Read

What the book is about:

Drawn into the orbit of Old Street’s famous ‘silicon roundabout’, Peter must learn how to blend in with people who are both civilians and geekier than he is. Compared to his last job, Peter thinks it should be a doddle. But magic is not finished with Mama Grant’s favourite son.
Because Terrence Skinner has a secret hidden in the bowels of the SCC. A technology that stretches back to Ada Lovelace and Charles Babbage, and forward to the future of artificial intelligence. A secret that is just as magical as it technological – and just as dangerous.
